1964. Waterbury, Ohio. Thirteen-year-old Deuce Delaney sits in his Observatory—the turret on top of his house perched high on Mount Airy—spying through binoculars on the world below. Deuce is trouble in perpetual motion. He gets in trouble at home, church, school—even with the law. So when he sneaks out one night and sees this thing with a hideous face disappear up a sewer pipe, no one will believe him. He must investigate the mystery alone. That’s when things get hairy… Author's Note The Teen Edition contains language more suitable for adolescents.

Mike Murray is a fine writer. Congrats on you first novel published. JUST FINISHED READING "DEUCE DELANEY" - a great read! It is a thriller set in 1964 in Ohio with "Deuce" a young teen and his adventures. It is hopefully the beginning of more to come. I think people will find it compelling and hard to put down. I found myself in the shoes of this young character. It took me back to my youth. Thankfully I was a bit less impetuous. He often makes decisions that gets him further into a complicated mess but the story through its twists and turns keeps you interested and rooting for him. I bought both paperback and electronic version. Once I started reading I did not want to wait for the delivery of the paperback.

Deuce Delaney Teen Edition Teen Edition Michael Murray 9780615678078 Books Reviews

I read this book straight through in one sitting. It held my interest like not many other books. I felt like I knew the author through the character. Hope that Michael Murray does a follow up. Looking forward to the movie!
Deuce Delaney pulled me in from the start! The story is very suspenseful and Michael Murray does a wonderful job of keeping the reader's interest through twists and mystery. Deuce Delaney has it all - suspense, mystery, nostalgia, and adventure. The author does an amazing job of placing the reader in Deuce's shoes through great, descriptive story telling and through realistic and honest language/views of a teenage boy. I also really enjoyed how he relates the book to Ohio! With all of this in a single book, it's hard to put it down! Great book!!!
Deuce Delaney is an entertaining read that takes you in to the life and mind of a teenager who sees the world as his to explore. Deuce is someone we have all met before at some point- he is likable, fun, quirky and all teenage boy. He is also impulsive, immature and dangerous. Teens can relate to his sense of curiosity and the "injustice" doled out by adults and adults can understand how choices can sometimes play out in a way you never imagined.
In the end, after one too many mishaps, you get the feeling that maybe Deuce has finally learned his lesson. But then he shows that maybe he isn't quite ready to play by the rules. He is Deuce Delaney, after all.
I really liked it. This family was really messed up and Deuce was a real pistol. That boy needs lots of therapy. This book was full of lots of surprises and it was hard to put down. Thanks for a really great read.
this reader is demanding at least one delaney (maybe the young adult, romantic, space traveler, adventurer, or even deuce the wheelchair bound elder) sequel. oh, the sticky wickets michael murray can connive......
It did take me awhile to get into the story, but once that happened, I could not put it down. It had a very exciting ending! I must say that the main character was one of the most disagreeable characters I've read, but I think he had to be that way in order to make the story work.

Janie Davidson Greene
I enjoyed reading the book, mostly for the nostalgia of the era, and references, outright and subtle, to Mansfield, Ohio. As for "Deuce" himself, I have no sympathy for him as a conniving, almost devoid of a conscience, and next to worthless, teenager. I can see him eventually working for Bernie Matoff in the big time world of fraud, and never batting an eye about swindling someone out of their life's savings. I must say that I wasn't prepared for the vividly described evil and horrifying sequence of events at the end of the book, and I sure had mixed emotions about what I was reading. It was near to the same response I had to the ever-so-scary basement scenes in the movie "Silence of the Lambs". Obviously there is more to this book than just a leisurely stroll down memory lane. It has an intended troubling "dark side" for the reader, and it makes you wonder which side the author found most easy to pen. I did find the author's timely use of the matter-of-fact sentence device really interesting, and it did help to step up the pace of the plot. I wonder if Michael Murray just might have the creativity, imagination and the literary skills to be a modern day version of "EAP".
